Being a working mother is no easy task in general. Meet JcQLyne Chin who’s a mother, influencer, entrepreneur, and an avid traveller. Juggling between these various hats, this former Miss Malaysia Universe makes it look effortless.
Are you wondering what’s the secret behind this? We heard you and we’re curious too! So, we got in touch with JcQLyne and here’s what we found out!
1Twenty80: Could you give us a little introduction about yourself?
JcQLyne Chin: Hailing from Puchong, Selangor, I am a simple lady who loves to explore new things in life. I love food and travelling. As for my education background, I graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia.
Fun fact, my horoscope is Libra and I’m into beauty and health. I’ve been in the beauty scene since the age of 18 years old, with my very first pageant being Miss Malaysia Universe 2000. I was lucky enough to represent Malaysia for the international pageant in Las Vegas.
Additionally, I also have a certification in Mastery in Chinese Metaphysics, advanced certification in Numerology and advanced diploma in Culinary Arts.
Now, I’m the founder of DeAge Titanium Beauty Sdn. Bhd. which specialises in health and beauty products and JcQLyne Chin Ventures specialising in desserts, products and services.
1Twenty80: What does your typical daily routine look like?
JcQLyne: I start my day as early as 6.00am where I cook and send my son off to school. Then, I start to clean the house. After that, I carry out meetings or work from home. I also prepare food for lunch and dinner. Finally, not forgetting to exercise.
To just feel good despite being a mother, we still need to look presentable in this modern working environment.
1Twenty80: Amidst your busy schedule, how do you find the time to take charge of your health?
JcQLyne: I make sure I have at least a 30 minutes workout session. Even though it’s a quick one, at least it helps me to sweat it out daily. I also take my own health supplements and try to get enough sleep. I’m not really on any diet but try to cook as much as I can.
1Twenty80: When things get extremely busy, what do you do to wind down?
JcQLyne: In my down time amidst an extremely busy schedule, I would rather order in some of my delicious and favourite food. I usually won’t have time to cook when my schedule is busy because cooking needs a lot of preparation and there is cleaning involved. At the end of the day, I’ll also read some articles or journals about life by Sadhguru, Robin Sharma, Deepak Chopra.
1Twenty80: How do you balance your role as a career woman and a mother?
JcQLyne: Time is of essence. Plan everything ahead. Every morning, I wake up at 6.00am to prepare breakfast and lunchbox for my son. After I send him off, I would start to make calls and meet people if needed. I normally will try to be home for dinner as much as I can. In between, I’ll still give at least 30 minutes for some ‘me time’ where I will usually exercise.
1Twenty80: Is ‘Me-Time’ important to you? If so, how often do you need it?
JcQLyne: It’s extremely important! I love to chill out or even have casual catch ups with friends over lunch or dinner to talk about any topics. We do it twice a month. Sometimes friends keep each other company and we check in with each other. I would also go for a facial or massage to pamper myself once a while. To just feel good despite being a mother, we still need to look presentable in this modern working environment.
1Twenty80: Are there any selfcare tips you would like to share with all the working mothers out there?
JcQLyne: About skin health, try using day and night essence. Before going out, you must apply sunblock to block harmful ultraviolet rays (UV). Also for our internal organs, I highly recommend taking good quality health supplements.
1Twenty80: As a mother, how do you explain to your children when you have to spend time away at work?
JcQLyne: I would explain to him that I have to work harder now and put my very best for our future, for a better living! I always say mum is getting older year by year, we have to cherish every opportunity ahead. This always gets some laughs!
Opportunities at times will come to you and you must have the courage to try it out. It’s all about timing and calling. I would rather try and fail than never try it at all. Work harder and never give up.
1Twenty80: As an entrepreneur yourself, do you have any tips to share to all the aspiring entrepreneurs out there?
JcQLyne: Opportunities at times will come to you and you must have the courage to try it out. It’s all about timing and calling. I would rather try and fail than never try it at all. Work harder and never give up. Connecting with the right people will help a lot too.
1Twenty80: Juggling between entrepreneurship, travel, and building your career, how do you ensure that you are present and don’t miss out on important moments in your childs’ lives?
JcQLyne: I have been travelling most of my time with my son almost every school holiday. I will make sure to plan ahead especially on money allocation for the trip. I work harder before the trip so we can spend money on the trip. I am a more spontaneous and flexible person. Sometimes, I would just go with the flow. I prioritise what’s urgent and important.
JcQLyne’s story serves as a reminder that working mums are indeed superheroes with incredible multitasking abilities. If you’re a working mum and you’re reading this article, give yourself a pat on the back! We’re rooting for you and we’re sure you’re doing the best that you can!
