Located in the relatively new Aked Esplanad in Bukit Jalil, Munching Mob Café was one of the first cafés in the area when it first came about and has since flourished. Since late 2015, this almost three-year old café has provided its customers with excellent coffee and delectable bites.
We had the opportunity to pop by for lunch and Munching Mob Café did not disappoint! For starters, we had their adorably named Piggy Blankie which were fried well and most importantly, not too greasy! Perfect as a snack during tea time.
What better than a big breakfast to start your day especially one with authentic German bockwurst which is prepared to retain its snap, stir-fried mushrooms, bacon bits and the star, soft and almost creamy omelette which makes its name, Omoletto, very apt. This dish is also served with a side of fresh, crispy salad, great for those who want to incorporate extra fibre in their diet.
Hailed by foodies as one of the best Fish and Chips in the Klang Valley, Under the Sea is the name of the deep fried, battered fish fillet served with a side of chips and salad. The golden-brown fried fish fillet was crispy and stayed that way down to the last bite. The wedge of lemon provided some zing to the fried fish and prevented the dish from feeling too heavy.
Bacon lovers, this pasta dish is just for you. The Pork-U-Pine is Munching Mob’s version of a spaghetti aglio olio with heaps of… bacon! The spaghetti is tossed in olive oil, plenty of sliced garlic, shimeji mushrooms and chilli flakes then garnished with parsley flakes. The pasta was made al dente and it was tossed in just the right amount of oil, keeping the dish light and not greasy at all.
If you’d like a healthy breakfast, try their Healthy Bowl, which is made simply with fresh ingredients that are good for you! The Healthy Bowl is made up of freshly sliced fruit atop a bed of oats and all you have to do is stir in the small jug of milk provided and voila, you’re good to go ! You’ll be getting in your daily dose of fibre, vitamins, antioxidants and calcium with this bowl of goodness.
Munching Mob Café has more to offer on their menu but with our bellies bursting, we just couldn’t try the rest. Do pop by this friendly, neighbourhood café, if not for their food, for a cup of tea served in adorable mugs!
