Beating The Mid-Year Slump

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It’s now the middle of the year and you’d like to take a step back and reflect on your career’s trajectory. Is there growth or are you finding yourself in a rut? What isn’t helping is the mid-year hot weather and less vacation time, making you feel just… blah.

How do you inject some motivation into your career to give you that kick you need? Here’re our tips:

Goal Getter

Sit down and re-assess your goals because it’s difficult to keep being interested in what you’re doing if your long and short-term goals aren’t relevant any longer. What role does your job play in achieving your goal? Does it benefit your future greatly? If your answer doesn’t provide you with a fresh sense of motivation to do better at your job, consider a change in scenery.

Self-Belief

Ask yourself, what’s holding you back? Our thoughts hold more power than you think. If you’ve always been told that you’d do terribly in the creative industry or that you’re just not a people person, it’s very possible that these could affect how you think of your capabilities.

If you know that your self-belief or rather, lack of it is making you drag your feet, perhaps consider seeing a career coach, HR manager or even a psychologist to help you through this block.

Take a break

If you’ve worked tirelessly to reach your goal and you’re starting to lose focus and confidence, it’s time to take a break. Take some time off and do things you enjoy to replenish your energy levels and refresh your mind. Come back and then think of your goal again to see if you’re still interested and if you’re not feeling it, tweak it!

No health, no wealth

Most important is your health! Being unhealthy takes time away from work and could impact your performance. Make time to exercise and eat a balanced diet that incorporates more fruits and vegetables. If you’re not sure on how to improve your lifestyle choices, do speak to your friendly neighbourhood pharmacist for advice.
