#1: Lima is not to be scoffed at

Most tourists visiting Peru would think of Machu Picchu and go to Cuzco, the country’s former capital. Lima is a vibrant city that offers wonderful food and beautiful sceneries. Check out the Miraflores district where you can enjoy drinks while overlooking beaches and stroll around museums.
#2: Try the ceviche

Ceviche is a dish made with fresh, raw fish that’s marinated in lime juice coupled with chillies and other spices. If you’re worried about cleanliness, have ceviche at a restaurant instead of a street stall. The western part of Peru faces the Pacific Ocean so seafood will be everywhere, which is great if raw fish isn’t something you fancy.
#3: Steady on your feet
Machu Picchu is an Inca citadel located on a mountain ridge 2430 metres above the sea level. It was built in the 15th century and is one of the new seven wonders of the world. If you’re headed to Peru just for Machu Picchu, do take note that it’s mountainous and it’ll get tiring quite quickly. Steer clear of alcohol, stay hydrated, get plenty of sleep and eat healthily to ensure that you’re at the peak of health.
#4: Deep-fried guinea pig, anyone?
Guinea pig is traditionally eaten in the Andean region of Peru and it is a low-fat and nutritious meat that’s thoroughly enjoyable. In Peru, it is called cuy chactado where the guinea pig is prepared and then deep-fried whole.
#5: Floating islands of Lake Titicaca

Located 7 kilometres east of Puno, the floating islands were actually created with totora reeds that help them float. These reeds are also incorporated into the Uros people’s livelihoods by being used to make homes, boats and other things.
#6: Hiking holiday

Fancy a challenge on your holiday? Cordillera Blanca is the world’s highest tropical mountain range and is a great place to go trekking and climbing with breathtaking views. There are also ruins from pre-Inca cultures to explore as well.
Whatever you decide to do in Peru, do practice being mindful with all of your personal belongings and ensure that you pack all the medications that you need. Always ask your friendly neighbourhood pharmacist on their tips for transporting your pills and supplements during your travels. Happy exploring!
