Globetrotting has no boundaries

Travelling as a wheelchair user may be challenging but that does not mean you can’t immerse yourself in the joys of travel. It certainly requires more preparation to fulfil your wanderlust but it is surely possible! Many have feared being in a chair would stop their travel dreams from coming true but don’t let that fear stop you from enjoying exciting times.

Here are tips that will ease your next getaway:

Take small steps to overcome the fear

Make the first step by changing your mindset from the impossible to the possible. Be inspired by fellow wheelchair travellers who have made it possible to live out their dreams. Surrounding yourself with positivity and encouragement will lift the fear. Invite friends and families for trips and gradually build your confidence. After overcoming the first step, soon you’ll be on your first solo trip!

Be prepared for hiccups

Just like any other trip, there will always be opportunities for things to go wrong. There may be misunderstandings but that should not be the reason to ruin your vacay. Be ready to spontaneously change your itinerary and have local contacts at hand who will be able to help you out of sticky situations.

Familiarise and get to know your transport options

Some cities that you’re travelling to may have readily available wheelchair accessible transportation. The list of cities that have wheelchair accessible transportation include Berlin,  Barcelona, Sydney, London and many cities in America. However, if your desired location is not on that wonderful list, a quick and easy tip is to book your transportation in advance, at least from the airport to the hotel so that you can have a worry-free start to your holiday.
