This dark green bumpy-skin and pear-like fruit is popular in our neighbouring country, Indonesia and it is only in recent years that this fruit has gained its popularity in our community. Though, who’s complaining?
The avocado is not only delicious but it’s super nutritious too!
Did you know that the avocado contains more potassium than a banana? It is also rich in fibre, loaded with heart-friendly monounsaturated fatty acids and even contains antioxidants that can protect your eyes!
The avocado flesh can be enjoyed on its on or it could be part of a greater meal. Here are two healthy meal ideas for every avocado lover!
GREEN & HEARTY
INGREDIENTS
1. | Hass avocado |
2. | Slices of rye bread |
3. | Slices of rye bread |
METHODS
1. | Remove avocado flesh from skin and de-seed it. |
2. | In a bowl, mash avocado with a fork. |
3. | Then, divide mashed avocado into two portions and spread on rye bread. |
4. | Slice hard-boiled egg and arrange on top of the mashed avocado. |
5. | Sprinkle a pinch of grounded black pepper and enjoy immediately. |

INGREDIENTS
½ | Green zucchini, julienned |
½ | Carrot, shredded |
100g | Purple cabbage, julienned |
1 | Avocado |
A handful of lettuce leaves | |
A handful of cherry tomatoes | |
Extra virgin olive oil | |
Balsamic Vinegar |
METHODS
1. | Slice tomatoes into half. |
2. | Remove skin and seed from avocado and slice thinly. |
3. | Then in a bowl, mix all ingredients together. |
4. | Sprinkle a dash of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Enjoy! |
