Your Community Health Platform

Knowledge is Power

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]How much do you actually know about your health? Do you know the basic numbers such as your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol levels and if you’re at risk of certain diseases? There’s no need to panic if you don’t know any of those but please do take some time out of your day to find out before it’s too late.

  1. WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON HEALTH COMPLAINT YOU’VE RECEIVED FROM THE COMMUNITY AROUND YOU?

We get a lot of the usual flu, cough and fever complaints and also skin complaints. This is because of the humid weather and also the lack of water sanitation in rural areas. We also get a lot of patients who come in with symptoms like headaches and numbness which points to high blood pressure which they’re usually unaware of.

Conversely, we do get quite a few customers who come in and ask for weight loss advice and they also express their interest in detox.

  1. HOW CAN MALAYSIANS PLAY A PROACTIVE ROLE IN TAKING CHARGE OF THEIR HEALTH?

This is just a matter of increasing awareness. For example, our food tends to be fattening so we need more free healthcare programs that the public can attend to learn facts about food.

  1. WHAT IS A COMMON MISTAKE THAT PEOPLE TEND TO MAKE WHEN MAKING DECISIONS WITH REGARDS TO THEIR HEALTH?

We get a lot of people taking over the counter painkillers for dizziness which is wrong! There are some who also insist on medicated eye drops when all they need are just some simple artificial tears. Some patients have their own opinions and are headstrong when it comes to listening to our advice.

Additionally, we’ve had clients who get their news and information from social media which might not be correct or in line with the practices of the Ministry of Health of Malaysia. No matter how headstrong, we do give counselling in hopes that they’ll take our advice.

  1. WHY IS KNOWING MORE ABOUT YOUR OWN HEALTH IMPORTANT?

This is in order to be able to prevent disease progressions and lessen the burden on the country’s health care system, not to mention medical cost. Knowing about your health helps you have an improved quality of life while allowing yourself to live meaningfully and contribute positively to the Malaysian workforce.

  1. HOW CAN THE COMMUNITY LEARN TRUE FACTS ABOUT THEIR HEALTH?

Pharmacists are also primary healthcare providers. Whatever the customers want to ask, please do ask us, and we’ll direct them to a doctor or specialist

if they require further advice or treatment. After reading something from the internet, please do check with a pharmacist to ensure that the facts are correct. For products, if you have any doubts, bring it into the pharmacy to check and make sure it’s compliant with our Ministry of Health. Some ‘miracle drugs’ sold online may contain substances such as steroids or other poisons which may be able to manage a problem for the short term. We, as certified pharmacists, will be able to recommend better long-term management of certain ailments.

  1. WHAT IS YOUR PHARMACY’S MOTTO AND HOW DO YOU PUT IT TO PRACTICE?

Our motto is ‘Wymed Pharmacy: Your total wellness companion’. We aim to bring wellness to the community by offering services such as weight management counselling, diet consulting for diseases such as diabetes and high uric acid, and lifestyle modification depending on age, preferred activity and their abilities as well.

We also provide emotional counselling by incorporating Emotional Freedom Techniques along with supplements in conjunction with their prescription.

There is also an infrared sauna, quantum scan which detects what nutrients are lacking in the body, and we also do a skin analysis because beauty is a part of wellness!

  1. WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE TO OUR READERS WITH REGARDS TO THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR COMMUNITY PHARMACIST?

Do not be afraid to approach us. We provide free counselling! A lot of people are afraid of blood tests because they’re afraid of the pain and also the results. We will counsel on the benefits of knowing about your health earlier, rather than later when it’s too late.

Some people do not like going to see a doctor because of waiting time and also cost. We bridge the gap for these people. This helps to reduce the burden on clinics and hospitals while still being able to help the community. We are also one of the first line of defence against disease progression and we’re able to provide long -term management advice after the patient is released from the hospital.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
