You can now test yourself for Covid-19 at home
There are plenty of reasons to get tested for Covid-19. It could be to have a peace of mind, because of work or travel requirements.
Covid-19 self-test kits are now readily available at pharmacies and online stores. The RTK-Antigen self-test kits offer convenience for individuals who would like to get tested for Covid-19.
If you’re new to these self-test kits, fret not as it is a simple procedure and does not take much of your time. Here are some basic tips you should know before and after conducting the test:
#1 Do take note
Self-tests can be taken by anyone and performed anywhere including your home.
Do not open the self-test kit until you’re ready to start the testing process.
Do not reuse the test for yourself or others.
#2 Performing the test
When performing the test, do take note of the details below:
- It is vital that you adhere to the instructions provided on the pamphlet while carrying out the test for an accurate outcome.
- If your RTK-Antigen self-test kit result is positive, isolate yourself and schedule for a Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test immediately.
- If your test turns out to be positive, do update your status via the MySejahtera application.
Note: When in doubt, you are encouraged to undergo the Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test for more accurate results.
This test is suitable for the following individuals:
- Adults aged 18 and above.
- Adolescents aged from 12 to 17 years old with adult supervision.
- Adults should carry out the test for their children who are between two to 11 years of age.
#3 Hygiene matters
Once you have completed the test, discard the RTK-Antigen self-test kit into a trash bin, disinfect the surface you used and wash your hands with soap before touching anything else.
